Anna Penner
Anna is from Salt Lake City, where she grew up with red rock and the mountains as her playground. Sunday Forced Family Fun days required exploring the Wasatch mountains via bike or ski. Summer camping trips brought her up to Idaho, where she fell in love with the Sawtooth Mountains and the Salmon River. After working in Stanley on the day stretch, she discovered she prefers the rhythm of spending a week on the river. When not guiding, she attends Amherst College, a liberal arts college in Massachusetts. She is double majoring in Environmental Studies and History, and she focuses on the water issues plaguing the Western US, but has also explored topics like the history of wine, the economics of migration, and legal theories.
