This is me sitting in Bert Loper’s Boat in Grand Canyon in May, 2012. It is rivetted steel and aluminum plates and weighs over 1 ton! Hard to believe it could make it down the river with any gear, but they did’nt need much, just bacon, flour and coffee.

That is the Ross Wheeler boat at Bass Camp. Bert Loper wrecked at mile 24 rapid. Bert never would have had the money to build a boat like that.
